Less Facebook — More Medium?

I know where I spend more of my time these days

Yesterday, I thought it was just my network that was down, preventing me from getting to Facebook and Instagram — but after reading someone’s tweet I realized it was everybody.

Of course, such an outage is all over the news this morning. A piece in MSN said that the last time there was a system failure this big was in 2019 when people couldn’t share pictures of their cats for 14 hours.

The piece also said that: “As yet there has been no official reason given for the problem. But online network experts speculated it may involve an error with DNS, or the domain name system, for Facebook sites.”

I do have my own ideas:

At any rate, the outage — not to mention the damning piece on Facebook featuring a former employee of the company — have got many rethinking their time on Lord Z’s Book. My son calls him Lord Z, which is both hilarious and a little too accurate.

Who knows what will happen? For many people, their window to the world and their source of news is their Facebook feed. It used to be mine as well but about a year ago…

Always looking for the interesting. Incurably curious. Write a new book in my head once a month. Hopefully one will cross the finish line before I'm 80.
